Inspirational Trip to London 4th November- Eldica
Earlier on this year I went on a long weekend away down to London to visit some friends and see a bit of culture. Whilst wondering through the markets in Hackney I came across this quaint little retro record shop... it actually had a little bit to offer of everything really! It's called, Eldica. As far as I'm aware everything in that shop was for sale and it really struck a chord with me. I thought the things in the shop would be perfect for the sitting area James runs through to escape. This the area I want to take advantage of to show that James is a part of that family, with things like photographs, objects obviously belonging to James etc.

Possible Location for Filming
Below is a link to the website of where the photos have been taken. It's called the Bivouac at druids temple in Masham, North Yorkshire, about an hour away from here. Jordan has said that he imagines it in a wooden cabin in the woods and that could be the perfect place as it has genuine wooden cabins in surrounding woodland and it has a reservoir and the Druids. It looks like an idyllic place so my question is, will we be able to make it seem like torturous acts of abuse are happening there or will it still look like a romantic holiday spot? Also, Is this really a piece of British culture or imported in from America? As Jordan wants to keep it within it's Yorkshire roots, Yorkshire cast. Will that fit in with the region?

First Ideas in terms of Art direction.
In terms of art direction, to achieve the desired mood for
'home away from home' I think that it's going to be visually better to stick to
grimy and dirty browns and greens with a dull atmosphere to mirror the effects
of the woodland and dull spaces often tend to make an environment look smaller
and cosier. This will be shown in the cabin part of the film. To instigate the
religious theory into the film visually I intend to place religious figures and
religious symbols carrying the same tarnish of ageing to them as will be shown
in the rest of the film. When it comes to the basement/ torture room, I’d like
to switch up the colours to greys and dark blues to show the coldness and bleak
content and resembling a cell like feel of entrapment.
The costume for the characters will be kept basic and simple
and will be sources from charity and vintage shops with no brand names if
possible and showing a little bit of wear to them to show their secluded way of
life.

Next Project, Major Project. Home Away From Here
'Into The Woods' is finally finished so now it's time to turn my attention on our major project, 'Home Away From Here'. It's a really ambitious project but I'm really looking forward to be a part of it. the following posts will be some initial thoughts, ideas and inspirations. As we don't not have a cast, final script or location yet everything is still in it's early stages.
